This authentic old poster of Dire Straits is a real gem of our cultural heritage!
It announces the concert of the English rock group, June 23, 1985 in Paris Bercy.
That year, Dire Straits returned to the studio for the album Brothers in Arms, a worldwide success which earned the group two Grammy Awards. It is even the group's greatest success, and one of the best-selling albums in the world, with more than 30 million copies sold.
The title song Brothers in Arms is a virulent denunciation of the war, with a soaring sound, very influenced by Pink Floyd and in particular by the use of the Hammond organ.
The music of Dire Straits, whether we love it or hate it, is a journey into the land of dreams and nostalgia where we find the imprints of Eric Clapton, Bruce Springsteen and Bob Dylan.
The album barely released, the group begins a gigantic tour through twenty-five countries and is sold out in June at the Palais omnisports de Bercy. Mark Knopfler, ignited the stage with his legendary guitar solo in "Sultans of Swing".
